Dear Gorochod Family Cousins,
I am writing to let you know that Elsa Leibovitz passed away early this morning in Tucson, Arizona, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was 100 years old.
Elsa was our oldest living "Gorochod" cousin, and one of the four remaining cousins of her generation of her 34 first cousins. She was the daughter of David and Sophie Gordon. She had 3 children, 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
I was so happy to spend some time with her about three weeks ago when she was in New York visiting. It was incredible listening to her tell stories about events that happened 75 years ago, and she remembered things as if they happened yesterday.
I'll always be grateful to Elsa for sharing her family stories, especially the ones about her time spent with my grandmother, Bertha (her 1st cousin). During our last visit, I recorded about 30 minutes of video with Elsa telling me some of the "classic" stories of the Gorochod Family. Some day, I will find some time to edit them and make them available for you all to see.
Please think about Elsa today, and imagine what it would be like to live 100 years. She was a lucky woman to have such a full life, and we are all lucky that she was a part of ours.
Love,
Cousin Jeff
